Brown Athlete Making Recovery After Attack

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Brown University basketball player who suffered severe head injuries in an attack near campus last spring is "doing well'' and plans to take at least one class this fall.

The Providence Journal reports that Joseph Sharkey of Norwood, Mass., has made tremendous strides since the May attack. He's undergoing physical and cognitive therapy twice a day five days a week. His mother said he's doing well but declined a full interview.

Twenty-four-year-old Tory Lussier of Vernon, Conn., was charged with felony assault. His lawyer said previously he acted in self-defense.

Twenty-two-year-old Dillon Ingham of Fulton, N.Y., was charged with felony assault and simple assault for allegedly attacking two of Sharkey's friends. His attorney wasn't immediately available.

Police say there was a large disturbance between two groups that night.
