PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Federal officials are urging anyone who needs crisis counseling in the aftermath of the explosions at the Boston Marathon to call a special hotline.
The Disaster Distress Helpline provides immediate and confidential assistance to anyone needing emotional help dealing with the blasts in Boston on Monday that killed two and injured dozens. Counselors are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The hotline can be reached by calling 1-800-985-5990. People can also text "TalkWithUs'' to 66746. The line is run by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Counselors can also provide callers with referrals and other needed support services.
