PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A Rhode Island doctor has been disciplined for improperly prescribing medical marijuana to two teenage girls.
The Providence Journal reports Dr. Soneath Pond, a Providence internist, has entered into a consent decree with the state Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline that includes a reprimand.
The board found Pond improperly wrote a medical-marijuana certification for a 16-year-old girl who suffered from anorexia, which is not a valid diagnosis for a card.
It also found he wrote a similar prescription for a 16-year-old suffering from migraines and other ailments, after other providers had told the same patient that her marijuana use was interfering with her treatment.
Attempts to reach Pond Friday morning were not successful. The voice mail systems at two offices listed for him could not take messages.
