Ex-boyfriend indicted in Johnston double homicide

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Providence County grand jury has indicted a 28-year-old man on murder charges in the killing of his ex-girlfriend and her adult daughter in Johnston.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin said Monday that Daniel Rodriguez was charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 40-year-old Evelyn Burgos and 25-year-old Vanessa Perez at Burgos's home in August.

Rodriguez is also charged with kidnapping Burgos's then-2-year-old son, who was later found unharmed in Providence. Rodriguez also faces multiple weapons and burglary charges.

Rodriguez is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 25. A message was left for his public defender.

Burgos had been granted a temporary restraining order against Rodriguez in July but authorities said they could not find him to serve it.
