RI Candidate Files Second Open Meetings Complaint

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ A candidate for governor has filed a second open meetings complaint against the Rhode Island Board of Elections.

The Providence Journal reports Moderate Party founder Ken Block argues the board should have posted bill numbers on an agenda listing the legislation it would discuss during a March 11 meeting.

The attorney general's office earlier this month ruled the board had violated open government laws by posting an agenda for its Feb. 27 meeting that did not include any information about the bills it planned to discuss.

The board's March agenda contained offered brief descriptions of the bills but not their numbers, prompting the second complaint.

Block also asserts the board committed a second violation by missing a 35-day deadline for filing minutes of the March 11 meeting.
