State Police Members Awarded for Response to Bombs

SCITUATE, R.I. (AP) _ Members of the Rhode Island State Police have been honored for their response to the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings during a ceremony to mark Police Week and honor fallen officers.
 
Trooper Roupen Bastajian received the State Police's highest honor, the service ribbon. He had just finished the marathon when the bombs went off, and ran to help the injured. Col. Steven O'Donnell says Bastajian's heroic efforts helped save lives that day.
 
Another trooper was honored for her efforts to help the injured and clear the area immediately after the bombs went off.
 
Others were recognized for their help in the investigation, including their work with explosive detection dogs.
