WESTERLY, R.I. (AP) _ A Westerly doctor charged with breaking and entering after walking through a stranger's home at 4 a.m. says it was an honest mistake, and he was trying to make a house call to check on a patient.
Internist Roy Main was arrested last weekend. He tells The Westerly Sun he was looking for friend and patient Bill Brower, who wasn't feeling well. He agreed to drop by, and Brower said he'd leave the door unlocked.
Main says he didn't have his cellphone and wasn't sure of the address. He saw a truck that looked like Brower's and went inside.
In reality, Brower's house is about a mile from the house Main entered.
Main says he understands why the homeowners ‘’freaked out.''
He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 23.
