Lorde is coming face-to-face with the man who inspired the words to "Royals."

The 17-year-old singer got the chance to meet former Kansas City Royals third baseman George Brett.

She revealed in an interview with "VH1" last year that she had seen an old photo of Brett wearing his "Royals" jersey in National Geographic, leading her to write the smash hit.

TMZ says Lorde's team contacted the baseball star and invited him to meet her backstage at her concert in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.  The MLB's official account posted a photo of the two together.

Apparently Brett is aware of his connection to Lorde's song.  When she performed in Kansas City earlier this year, he reportedly sent her an autographed "Royals" jersey, along with a note that read "Lorde, you are Royal to me."
